TRS Revisits

This change is intended to clear any confusion around revisit due dates and feature response due dates as parties may have a feature response due and revisit due date at the same time.

Add Deferment Update

Image of a keyboard with a button that reads make a changeThe Deferment Reason drop-down options when adding a deferment have changed to:
  • Pending Coverage Investigation
  • Pending Litigation
  • Policy Limits Issue
  • Tolling Statute
The “Pending Salvage” option has been removed. A responder is not to defer a filing due to pending salvage on its total loss. The responder is to submit its response to the filing, and then submit its damages after a liability decision has been rendered on the initial filing (assuming recovery is permitted).

TRS Entry Issues

Image of a road sign with the word oops on itThe following issues generate a significant volume of post-decision inquiries that delay the resolution of the claim dispute. Please ensure appropriate entries when filing/responding to eliminate these issues.

Policy Limits
  1. Always enter Policy Limit information when filing/responding so the issue can be resolved by the arbitrator when the case is heard. Raising policy limits post-hearing only delays closure of the claim for all parties.
  2. The Add Exposure option is to be used for additional exposures seeking recovery. Do not include exposures included in the filing. For example, if Alpha is seeking $2,000 and you have a $5,000 policy limit, do not add Alpha’s $2,000 claim. It will be considered when the final award is calculated. The Add Exposure option would be used if a party not named in the filing is seeking recovery, i.e., a third vehicle that was damaged.

Prior Payments
  1. Enter prior payment information where provided and attach proof of cleared payment to ensure credit is applied. Prior payment information entered anywhere else may not be considered by the arbitrator.
  2. The responding party does not need to enter a payment if the filing party has already acknowledged it.

Can’t Upload Video Evidence? We have a Work-around

Image of an arrow bypassing a mazeWith the availability of video evidence in the OLF and TRS platforms, it’s important to know size and formatting guidelines.

Video evidence including surveillance, smartphone, and body and dash cam videos must be 40 MB or less.

To upload videos, they must be saved in one of the following formats:
  • .mov
  • .wmv
  • .avi
  • .mp4
  • .vob
When videos do not meet these requirements, you may receive a system error. Don’t worry, we’ve got a work-around for you!

Start by opening a Word document, add the header “Video Evidence,” and attach it as evidence to the case.

Next, request a personal appearance under the Filing Options and Billing Workflow Step, and submit the case to arbitration.

Once the case has been submitted to arbitration, a personal appearance hearing will be scheduled where the claims representative will share his or her video with the arbitrators for review.

System Maintenance Rescheduled to February 2020

Image of gears over an updating barAF was originally scheduled to perform system maintenance and upgrades during the weekend of December 6-8. However, we have rescheduled the maintenance period to February 14-16, 2020. As a result, AF's website will be unavailable from 9 PM Eastern on Friday, February 14, 2020, to 6 PM Eastern on Sunday, February 16, 2020.
