Self-Insured Functionality - Add Liability Policy Carrier

Image of a puzzle pieceMany self-insured companies partner with insurers to provide liability coverage and handle their liability claims. If a self-insured company files a claim and the Responding party files a counterclaim, the counterclaim would be handled by that liability carrier.

A recently released TRS enhancement streamlines the workflow for self-insured recovering parties by providing them with the ability to add their liability carrier when filling out their Auto Counter Response (ACR), rather than having to perform a lengthier manual process. The liability carrier will be placed in a “holding pattern” and will not be a party to the case until an adverse party actually initiates a counterclaim.

What Is an Impleaded Party?

There may be instances where all parties were not named on the TRS case when the Recovering party files for its damages. When the Responding party begins its response, it is given an opportunity to add another party to the case, or ‘implead’ another party. If a party is impleaded, such as a new party to the case or a liability carrier for a self-insured, it will show up on the dashboard with a red R. See the screen-shot below for a visual.

If you click on the Red “R,” the system will take you into the liability arguments work-flow. At this time, a member will be able to update the liability arguments and give you the opportunity to admit liability for this party.

Migration of TPA Reports Coming November 8

Image of different types of reportsAs we mentioned in the September E-Bulletin for TRS, AF is continuing the migration of reports into the new, more robust reporting platform. This month, we will be moving some of the existing TPA reports and releasing some additional reports that will allow TPAs to pull the feature published summaries for recovering and responding parties by client and state.

For more information, review the reports change guide.

Enhancements to TRS Coming in February 2019

Image of a clock with a sign that says coming soonPutting our members’ needs first is at the heart of our business strategies and a major priority at Arbitration Forums, Inc. (AF). That’s why we strive to deliver timely notice of upcoming product initiatives directly to you.

The following list of enhancements to the Total Recovery Solution® (TRS®) platform is scheduled to be implemented on February 17, 2019. These improvements will expand TRS filing usage and increase system functionality:
  1. Eliminate Dollar Threshold – AF will eliminate the current dollar threshold in TRS to enable members to file features up to the compulsory limit of $100,000.
  2. Three-Person Panel and Personal Appearance Requests – This will allow TRS users to request a panel of three (Rule 3-3) or to personally appear via a telephonic hearing (Rule 3-7).
  3. Corresponding Reports – Current reports will be enhanced and/or new reports created to support the expanded functionality of this release.
We will keep you posted as we near the implementation date. In the meantime, feel free to contact our member support team for additional information.
